Eligibility
Key Requirements
Both the sponsor (already in Germany) and the spouse (applying from India) must meet certain requirements.
Sponsor (in Germany)
- A valid residence permit — student, Aufenthaltserlaubnis, or EU Blue Card
- Proof of financial stability to support the family (blocked account or salary slips)
- Adequate accommodation — generally a home suitable for a family (approx. one-bedroom, ~16+ m²)
- A formal invitation letter confirming accommodation & support
- For Mumbai/Kolkata/Chennai: employment contract + 3 months' salary slips + lease deed
Spouse (Applying from India)
- A valid passport (issued within 10 yrs, valid 1+ yr, 2 blank pages)
- Two completed visa application + declaration + contact forms
- 2 biometric photos (< 6 months old)
- Basic German (A1) — unless joining a Blue Card / skilled-worker spouse
- Attested & translated marriage certificate + proof of genuine relationship
- Health insurance (travel cover until family cover via spouse begins)

Health Insurance
- Family health cover through your spouse once established in Germany

Processing takes at least 3 months.Your file is also forwarded to the immigration authorities in Germany. Status enquiries during the first 3 months after submission are not answered. Prepare two identical sets, don't staple, and add a notary-attested English translation for any non-English/German document.
