Spouse Visa

The Germany Spouse Visa (Family Reunion Visa) allows you to live with your partner in Germany, ensuring families can stay together while building a life, career, or studies in one of Europe’s strongest economies.

Key Requirements

To apply for a Spouse Visa in Germany, both the main applicant (already in Germany) and the spouse (applying from the home country) must meet certain requirements:

For the Main Applicant

  • A valid visa or residence permit.

  • Proof of financial stability to support your spouse.

  • Adequate accommodation (at least a one-bedroom apartment of around 16 sq.m. or larger).

  • A formal invitation letter confirming accommodation and support.

For the Spouse

  • A valid passport and two completed Visa application forms.

  • Biometric photos.

  • Proof of basic German language skills (A1 level) unless exempt.

  • Attested and translated marriage certificate.

  • Additional proof of marriage / relationship (e.g., wedding photos, rituals, or videos if applicable).

Photos should clearly show the couple, family members, and the priest performing the rituals. Applicants in Mumbai are advised to carry the complete wedding photo album.

Optional Video Evidence
In addition to photos, you may also provide a short 5–10 minute wedding video as extra proof.

  • Videos can be submitted on a USB or CD.

  • Include a short note explaining which rituals are shown (e.g., Saptapadi, Mangalsutra, Sindoor).

Accommodation Proof

To demonstrate that you have sufficient living space, you should provide these documents

Rental Agreement

A signed rental agreement with details of the property, including the address and lease duration.

Proof of Payment

Bank statements or receipts that show regular rent payments.

Landlord's Confirmation

A letter from your landlord confirming that the accommodation is suitable for a family along with dimensions & specifications.

Floor Plan

A floor plan of the apartment can be submitted to highlight separate living areas and bedrooms.

Financial Requirements
